Daniel W. Finley is Of Counsel in Sklar Kirsh’s Real Estate Department. A commercial real estate generalist with particular depth in leasing, Daniel represents landlords and tenants in sophisticated transactions involving office, retail, industrial, medical office, data center, and build-to-suit properties. His practice is concentrated in California and New York, and he regularly handles leasing matters throughout the United States.
Daniel advises a broad range of property owners, developers, investors, institutional clients, and operating businesses. His experience includes representing prominent financial institutions, technology companies, luxury retailers, media companies, and leading real estate owners and developers. His experience with acquisitions, dispositions, financings, and joint ventures includes serving as a member of the legal team that closed one of the largest residential real estate transactions in U.S. history.
Known for his practical, business-minded approach, Daniel focuses on understanding the commercial reasons underlying each party’s position and translating those objectives into clear, workable agreements. He collaborates closely with owners, tenants, brokers, architects, consultants, property managers, and other transaction participants to develop solutions that address competing operational, financial, and design considerations. His goal is not only to complete the transaction, but also to produce documents that clients can administer efficiently.
Daniel brings a firsthand business perspective to his practice from having created, owned, and operated a restaurant in Los Angeles. His experience as a commercial tenant gives him practical insight into the operational realities that clients face when negotiating and performing under commercial leases.
Prior to joining Sklar Kirsh, Daniel practiced at Greenberg Traurig; Fried, Frank, Harris, Shriver & Jacobson; and King & Spalding.
Daniel received his J.D., cum laude, from New York University School of Law in 2004 and his B.A. from the University of Washington. He is admitted to practice in California.
Daniel has lived in Los Angeles since 2012. Outside the office, he enjoys cycling, DJing, and exploring the world.
