SCOTT R. EHRLICH, PARTNER

Scott R. Ehrlich is Co-Chair of the firm’s Corporate Department and the Department Head of the firm’s Mergers and Acquisitions Practice.  Scott’s practice focuses on corporate M&A and finance transactions, with an emphasis in the entertainment and media industry.

Scott has more than 20 years’ experience representing diverse public and private clients in corporate transactions including mergers and acquisitions, joint ventures, strategic alliances, IPOs, equity and 144A debt offerings, PIPE transactions, and general corporate and business matters.  Scott has also represented start-up entities and investors in seed capital and venture capital financing rounds.

Scott joined Sklar Kirsh after serving nearly nine years as the General Counsel of Deluxe Entertainment Services Group where he was the chief legal officer handling dozens of high-stakes, post-production and new distribution technology deals, mergers and acquisitions, corporate finance and joint venture activity along with providing day to day legal and commercial advice to business units around the world.  Scott’s in-house experience gives him strong familiarity with the major entertainment companies and the many different sectors of the entertainment business, including new media.  Having been a law firm client, Scott has a deep appreciation of what clients expect and how to provide services in a cost-effective manner.

Prior to joining Deluxe, Scott was a Counsel in the corporate finance department of Skadden Arps in New York, having spent almost seven years practicing corporate finance and M&A in that office.  Scott started his legal career as a corporate associate with Tucker Flyer (since merged with Venable) in Washington, DC for five years.

Scott received his B.S. in Commerce from the University of Virginia in 1989 and then worked as an accountant for Deloitte & Touche prior to attending law school.  He earned his J.D. from the George Washington University Law School in 1994.

Scott is admitted to the California, New York, DC and Maryland (inactive status) bars and is a Certified Public Accountant in New York (inactive status).  Scott is a member of the American Bar Association, the State Bar of California, the Beverly Hills Bar Association and the District of Columbia Bar.  He serves as an Adjunct Professor of Law at Loyola Law School, Los Angeles, teaching Business Planning: Financing the Start-Up Business & Venture Capital Financing.
