Susan Spira is Of Counsel to Sklar Kirsh LLP in the Real Estate Department. She is an experienced real estate lawyer, having handled all aspects of real estate transactions over a period of 20 years.
Susan began her career practicing bankruptcy law, primarily representing institutions and trustees. With the strong economic growth of the 1990’s, Susan transitioned to commercial and institutional real estate at Allen Matkins where she began practicing real estate law and negotiated and closed numerous purchase and sale transactions, and closed several commercial lease transactions for various landlord clients.
She has over 20 years of real estate experience including 10 years at Paul Hastings, where she worked on hundreds of widely varied real estate transactions, with an emphasis on acquisitions, dispositions, real estate financing for institutional investors, and commercial leasing. In addition to representing numerous institutional landlords, Susan represented the firm in its own leasing and facilities leases for its international offices.
Most recently, Susan was recruited away from Paul Hastings by a life sciences REIT where she continued her real estate practice in a senior in-house counsel role, overseeing all property acquisitions and dispositions, several large office and incubator-labspace developments, and the privacy (confidentiality) program.
She has served on the YMCA board of directors, volunteers as founding member for the Will Rogers 10k and related foundations, the Semel Institute and Make A Wish Foundation. She also served various voting organizations for election oversight.
