He has represented financial institutions, private equity funds, institutional investors, and owners with complex financing transactions, acquisitions and dispositions, and leasing transactions across various asset classes (multi-family, office, retail, shopping center, hotel, and industrial). Mark values understanding a client’s business and its needs in resolving legal issues in a thorough and efficient manner.
Born and raised in Los Angeles, California, Mark received his Bachelor of Arts in Legal Studies from the University of California, Berkeley, where he was a California Alumni Association scholar. Mark attended graduate school at Washington University in St. Louis where he received his Juris Doctorate, cum laude, from the School of Law, and a Master of Business Administration, with Beta Gamma Sigma honors, from the Olin Business School.
Prior to joining Sklar Kirsh, Mark was an associate in the Real Estate and Capital Markets Department at national law firm Ballard Spahr LLP. Mark also has an active pro bono practice. Some of the matters he has worked on include representing: a foreign-born minor seeking guardianship and special immigrant juvenile status, the family of a U.S. veteran killed in action during a forensic investigation into the cause of his death, and a Russian-speaking Holocaust survivor as a defendant in a civil action. He currently serves as an officer and Board Member of Happy Trails for Kids, a non-profit organization providing year-round adventures for youth in the Southern California foster care system.
Mark enjoys playing, watching, and discussing all forms of team and individual sports, and he organizes and participates in annual adult sports camps.
